Grammys 2020 Aftermath; Winners & Moments


Sad day at the Grammys, as a legendary icon died in a helicopter crash moments just before the ceremony. Even more tragic was a Father and daughter dying together on the spot, Rest well in the Heavens Kobe Bryant and daughter, Gianna as well as all the victims of the crash.
Well back to the 62 ND Grammy Award Ceremony which took place on Sunday night at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles on the 26th of January 2020. 


It was definitely an eventful night with tributes going to Kobe Bryant. As for the big winner, Teenage sensation and new comer Billie Eilish walked away with five (5) awards of the seven (7) that she was nominated for. Not only has she broken Taylor Swifts record of being the youngest winner for Album of the year and Best new Artist, but she only the second ever to win all the BIG FOUR Categories, that is, Album of the Year. Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best New Artist (Now third year in a row that a female artist has won the Best new Artist award). The only other person to walk away with the Grammy award for these four categories was Christopher Cross in 1981.


Lizzo was the most nominated artist, with 8 nods, winning three (3) and another big winner was Lil Nas with his 2019 record breaking Billboard hit, Old Town Road, which won the Best Pop Duo award. Here is a full list of this year’s winners;

Grammys 2020; What to Expect



So the biggest and most grand music award show will be televised on Sunday, 26th January, 2020 at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles, Carlifornia. Well for most of you, you’ll probably be watching them live on the 27th of January as is my case, time zones, right, what a bummer. Anyway, this year’s Grammys are definitely set to be historical with female artists leading the nominations in the key categories. The legendary and Grammy winning artist, Alicia Keys returns as the host, Awesome!!!! Lizzo also makes history by being a first time nominee with a record eight (8) nominations, the most nominations by a single artist this year. Another history maker is the LA Teenage sensation, Billie Eilish who has bagged herself seven (7) nominations and is the youngest nominee to secure nominations in the Big Four (4) categories which are Record of the year, Album of the year, Song of the year and Best new artist. Billie was 17 the time the nominations were announced. Ariana Grande also follows in the number of nominations. For the male artists, Lil Nas leads the nominations with his viral song "Old Town Road" which stayed number one on the Billboard charts for a record 19 weeks. As for performances, well some A-list artists on the line-up include Lizzo, Billie Eilish, Aerosmith, Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton.
